EPD, LCA, PCR
Three Acronyms That Will
Define the Future of Green

With the proliferation of eco-labels and green certifications worldwide, it can be confusing determining a product’s environmental attributes.

Well established in Europe and Japan, Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are starting to appear in the US as the common methodology for assessing the potential environmental performance of a product or process. The US Green Building Council’s LEED 2012 Rating System and Architecture 2030 for Products are starting the demand for EPD’s.

Join us for an informative hour as we offer a brief overview of EPDs, the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) that supports it and the Product Category Rules (PCRs) that sets the ground rules for it.  Research efforts by the Carbon Leadership Forum at the University of Washington to advance the creation of a standard PCR for Concrete will also be presented.

Our speaker is Tien Peng, Senior Director of Sustainability, Codes and Standards at the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association.  Tien is a long-time advocate of sustainability, promoting green building and operational excellence. He has spent over 17 years in the building, design and construction industry facilitating design teams to yield more creative solutions to improve the built and natural environment.

The monthly ACI lunch meetings are very well attended and last month's meeting was standing room only. These meetings are a great opportunity to network, as well as to brush up on your technical knowledge. Check in begins at 11:30, followed by lunch and the presentation at noon. We work to get you back on the road by 1:00 pm.

Register on-line now. When you complete your on-line registration you will receive an emailed invoice and are then given the option of paying on-line or using the invoice to pay by check.
