In 2018, Arizona ranked among the top 10 states for population gains and job creation, but higher interest rates and a slowing national expansion are expected to create economic headwinds. Dr. McPheters will give his analysis of national economic issues, report on the industries currently driving Arizona growth, and offer a first look at 2019 for Arizona construction and other key indicators.

Dr. Lee McPheters is Research Professor of economics at Arizona State University and Director of the JPMorgan Chase Economic Outlook Center. He specializes in the study of economic development issues in Arizona and the Western States. At ASU he has achieved recognition and won awards for teaching, research, and public service. Dr. McPheters speaks frequently to corporate groups and professional associations and his media appearances span the spectrum from NPR to CNN to Fox News.
