High Strength
 Macropolymeric
Fiber Reinforcement
for ConcretePresented by:  Jeff Ferris, Euclid Chemical

Because of advancements over the past decade, fiber reinforcement is much more widely accepted and specified in concrete construction.  This talk will show why high strength macro synthetic fibers are a cost effective alternative to rebar or wire in slab on grade and metal deck application.  New materials and recent ACI design guidelines have paved the way for macropolymeric fibers to become a most cost effective method for concrete slabs.  For contractors, engineers, agencies and inspection firms, placement problems associated with rebar are eliminated with fibers being in the correct location.  We will cover:

*ACI 360 "Design of Slabs on Grade" chapter on fiber reinforced concrete slabs.

*ASTM testing of fiber reinforced concrete

*Macropolymeric fiber reinforcement vs. steel fiber reinforcement

     *Finishing fiber reinforced concrete

*Durability characteristics of fiber reinforced concrete

     *Fiber reinforced concrete applications
